Artificial intelligence-based visual editing tools are reaching more users every day. Major technology companies have accelerated the development of new models that automate the photo editing process. Google has made its latest move in this field with a new artificial intelligence model added to its Gemini application.
Google has added a brand-new feature to the Gemini application. Thanks to this AI model, called “Gemini 2.5 Flash Image,” it is now possible to edit photos directly within the app. This model, referred to by AI enthusiasts as “Nano Banana,” is available not only in Gemini but also through Adobe Express and Firefly.

The new model makes photo editing much easier. You can now change the background, make several different edits on the same photo sequentially, or create entirely different designs by merging two visuals with the “design remix” feature. For instance, when you upload a photo of a rose and a boot, the artificial intelligence can redesign the boot by combining it with patterns inspired by the rose.
The Photo Editing Process Is Entirely Handled by Artificial Intelligence

The “Nano Banana” model was recently tested in a preview version on LMArena and has already found a place on the lists of AI enthusiasts. It is currently available automatically in the Gemini app. Additionally, it can be accessed through the Gemini API, Google AI Studio, and Vertex AI. Google is already investing heavily in AI-powered media tools this year. Besides Gemini, projects such as the video-generating Veo 3 model and NotebookLM, which converts documents into podcasts, are also prominently on the agenda.
We can say that Google’s new model, named “Nano Banana,” leaves photo editing entirely to artificial intelligence. The company reminds users that they should not upload private or sensitive photos due to its privacy policy. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that this model looks set to be a frequent topic of discussion in visual editing and generation in the coming period.
